The House Bill removing the repealer on the Check Cashing industry was passed out of the Banking and Finance Committee today. There is a strong possibility that it will be taken up on the floor of the House of Representatives tomorrow (Wednesday). We need to ask Legislators to please vote to pass the bill exactly as it came out of committee with NO MENDMENTS!

LEGISLATIVE UPDATE! January 24, 2013
House Bill 559, which removes the repealer from the Check Cashers authorization was passed on the floor of the House of Representatives today by a vote of 86 for, 21 opposed and 8 not voting!
This is an exciting victory for our industry and we want to thank everyone that called your Representative. This is truly what makes the difference!
We will now move over to the Senate side, so please watch for emails with suggested next steps.

The House Bill removing the repealer on the Check Cashing industry was expected to be taken up on the floor of the House of Representatives today. However, due to some conflicts on the calendar, we have been told that a floor vote on this bill will likely take place tomorrow instead (Thursday).
So, if you were unable to place a call to your legislators this morning, there is still time. Please follow the same instructions below and go ahead and make that call this afternoon, or in the morning at the latest. We have strong support from House members, but a word from voters at home is always the most effective resource we have. Please take just a few minutes to place a call. We need to ask Legislators to please vote to pass the bill exactly as it came out of committee with NO AMENDMENTS!
